Treasurer’s Report: Karen Sciarretta
Main Account and Gaming account both have funds received and are about where we expected. There may still be some expenses before the end of the year.
School sponsor club requests – one was made by the band/choir for the trip to California which will be presented in June.
Dry Grad – Fundraising is completed for the year for the dry grad. Last year’s gift was blankets which the kids would like again this year.
Parent Portal presentation by VP David Greve. My ed BC is the total package of the schools throughout the province and the kids grades, etc. It is a resource for students, parents and teachers. Report cards and attendance will both be on the site. The auto dialer will be discontinued soon. BCmyEd will be a great tool for everyone all around. The students have access to the site through My Locker. This site has not been fully implemented yet. Concerns about safety and security are being worked through.
Core Competencies Chats are being included in the myedbc in the my locker (student) section, as well as in the school for the grade 8 and 9 students. The grade 10 to 12 students will have a later start. There is a link to a core competency video on the provincial website about BC’s New Curriculum.
May 1st the Schools new app was activated. You can find it on Google Play or on the App store for Apple users. It is called Mountain Connect. It includes class information, calendar of events, access to the school website. It eliminates the need for the paper agenda/planner. It includes staff contact lists.

Parent Ed – Dr Vo’s presentation was well received. His book and other resources can be found on his website ‘Mindfulness for Teens.com’
Band choir trip to Disneyland went really well. Students were in workshops. 300 band students played a Disney song together after practicing for only one hour.
Cancer all nighter occurred. Pro D Day occurred which had some good things happening for staff. No layoffs for staff happened this year. Grad exit interviews are coming up for any students that have not completed them yet. Grads will be doing a type of satisfaction survey.
Yell (young Entrepreneur Leadership Launch) – a team from Burnaby Mountain came in second overall. We were the only school in Burnaby that participated.
